drinkbetter was founded in 2016 in Hamburg by Johannes “Jogi” Bitter (including HSV Handball and previously TVB 1898 Stuttgart) and hockey player and marketing expert Christian Monzel (including Jung von Matt and SEE MORE).
We met through sports. We'd been searching for special drinks as nutritional supplements for a long time. When we couldn't find what we were looking for on the market, we decided to take action ourselves. As a professional athlete who consistently has to deliver top performances, Johannes's focus when developing our smart drinks was on healthy nutrition and the perfect nutritional supplement.
It was therefore important to us to completely avoid sugar, artificial flavors, and preservatives in our products. Together with a scientific team in Berlin, we developed the concept and recipes for "drinkbetter"!
Our journey together then led us to "The Lion's Den," where we impressed some of the lions in April 2020... That was our launch into the German market, with more international launches to follow. Because our brand name is also recognized worldwide...
PERFORMANCE PAYS OFF
Even at 39, Johannes is still a top performer. He has been playing for HSV Handball in the Handball Bundesliga since July 1, 2021.
“Johannes is an absolute team player and an asset to any team!” says co-founder Christian Monzel.
At the 2020 European Handball Championship, he was named "Player of the Match" twice and, among other things, "Player of the Month" in the German Handball Bundesliga in February 2020. He also participated in the 2021 World Championship in Egypt and the Olympic Games in Tokyo. And finally, he was a "savior in need" at the 2022 European Championship in Bratislava. He has now played 175 international matches, and who knows if there are more to come? :-)
