Recipe | Couscous

Couscous is an excellent source of carbohydrates. It is wonderfully filling, especially when used whole-grain. At the same time, it is very low in fat (1.8 grams of fat per 100 grams) and, in its whole-grain version, provides important nutrients. This combination ensures that couscous is healthy and a good source of energy. Couscous is an exceptionally good source of selenium. 100 grams of couscous covers almost 40 percent of the daily requirement.

Selenium is a trace element that is essential for numerous processes in the body. It plays a key role in the production and function of thyroid hormones.

The selenium in couscous can also strengthen the immune system. As an antioxidant, it can fight inflammation in the body and thus support the immune system. Free radicals are intercepted, preventing them from damaging cells.
